New service launched! - Video marketing training

26/10/2016

In the next few days we will be officially launching our video marketing training service.

Video is now in our opinion the number 1 way to improve your digital marketing. It ticks so many boxes in terms of SEO benefit, social media engagement and conveying the message. However, it comes with challenges too, affordability being number one followed quickly by time and skill/knowledge.

To turn those challenges into opportunities we have finally put together a course that allows you to use your iPhone or iPad to produce high quality videos for your business. We do this by following some rules, using some amazing apps and by controlling variables like light and sound that might otherwise ruin a great video. The course also covers how to distribute the video effectively and get the most from it on social media.

The idea behind it is to provide a cost effective solution for most businesses to start to produce their own videos. Of course, there will always be limitations to using smartphones and tablets, but in 6 out of 10 situations the quality is excellent and the downsides are outweighed by the ROI and the ability to edit and distribute it quickly.

Over the next few months we will be sharing some tips and things we've learnt to help our business succeed with video but in the meantime please take a look at the details of the video marketing course.

Vlog of the EPIC weekend of Adventure now live!

Here it is! Our beautiful Epic Welsh Adventure for Visit Wales

It's not often an idea comes together perfectly but this makes us very proud.

Below is a 15 minute feature length video about 7 amazing adventure you can do in Wales. The project was funded by Visit Wales and the Local Authorities featured and features (and was filmed /edited by) Kinging-It.

It's a crazy road trip over 3 days taking in some of the best of Wales.

You can also view short teaser clips and a bog about the planning of the event here: "I love it when a plan comes together"

The social media

Critical to the project was the social media side too as we asked Kinging It to post content in real time tagging in relevant activity providers and those people funding it. The idea behind this was to maximise exposure online during the period of the Visit Wales Great Weekend of Adventure (2/3rd April 2016). This was a massive success with content being very widely shared and great interaction from the public. See below.

I love it when a plan comes together - The Visit Wales Great Weekend of Adventure

31/3/2016

A little over a month ago we got the green light from Visit Wales to organise an idea that was hatched at Junction 33 services on the M4!

The rough plan was to send 2 vloggers (video bloggers) on an epic tour of Wales doing adventurous outdoor activities to coincide with Visit Wales' Great Weekend of Adventure, 2/3rd April 2016.
#FindYourEpic in Wales in 2016 as this is the Year of Adventure, read our blog about how we've been getting involved using video bloggers!
#FindYourEpic is the hashtag of Wales' Year of Adventure

Had an absolute blast @supgower this afternoon when we took part in kite buggy-ing @ @visitswanseabay so much fun! □□□Thanks a lot Matt for being so patient! The vloggers are Kinging-It, Craig and Aimee from Barry have had millions of views of their YouTube and Facebook videos. They made the perfect fit to show off the adventure paradise that is Wales in a unique and fun style that makes anything interesting.
Well it has now stopped being an idea and become a reality...
On the 1 - 3rd of April the vloggers will travel nearly 500 miles and complete seven activities in under 80 hours including:
  • Foraging and cooking breakfast on Ogmore beach - Vale of Glamorgan
  • A sand dune adventure - Bridgend
  • Kite Buggy Boarding – Swansea
  • Whitewater Kayaking - Carmarthenshire
  • Coasteering  - Ceredigion
  • Cycling a tandem bicycle down the mountains of Snowdonia
  • Climbing in the Brecon Beacons

It's fair to say that after all that they're going to be exhausted even with that in mind though a little part of me wishes I was doing it all too!

We hope that this shows off Wales in a fantastic light to as many people as possible.

You can read a press release here: ADVENTURERS ON EPIC TOUR AROUND WALES IN 80 HOURS

The Route

This has taken a lot of planning as to fund it we had to get support from not only Visit Wales but also 7 other local authorities! Then as the funding came in we also had to organise the activities balancing what shows off Wales as a region and also what can be done in a short space of time (1-2hrs max per activity) and also close to a road so they could quickly move on to the next activity.

So far we have had 2 press releases featured about the project and ITV Wales will be joining us with a reporter and TV crew for the first three activities. Watch the news clip at 6pm on Friday 1st of April.

This PR wouldn't have happened without support from Orchard and they have coordinated 2 of the activities / regions which has really helped. This is a company we've worked in partnership with many times most recently on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and Countryside - Family Adventure campaign.

On Wednesday 6th of April the full adventure will be uploaded to the Kinging-It YouTube channel.

A marketing company is a 50% about promoting what exists already as a product and 50% about delivering a fresh set of ideas to capture attention - Proud to say this project sums that up nicely.

We'll update you on the results of the weekend in terms of social media interaction and video views as soon as we have them. In the meantime look out for the posts by searching for #FindYourEpic and 'Kingingit' on social media.

Donating your time as a competition prize as a B2B lead generation tool.

28/5/2015

We don't all have infinite marketing budgets and so how do you generate new leads when your business comes from other businesses?

One way is to run a competition where you donate your time as the prize.

Even better is when you can get other businesses to donate their time too to make the prize 'value' even bigger...and that's precisely what i've has done recently!

In my role as marketing coordinator for Swansea 4N business networking club we are predominantly looking for leads from other businesses so I suggested we run a competition to attract new visitors. The result was we got together £5000 of prizes and the winner was local business.

I'm delighted to announce that the winner was Tony John from Cartridge World Swansea, among other prizes he won £600 worth of marketing support from Mogi Marketing to use to improve their digital and social media marketing campaigns.

Using Linkedin's Blogging platform Pulse... do it now!

B2B clients regularly ask for my help to do their blogging for them and whilst I love it I also know that what is better is if they write it and then I tweak it for best SEO and engagement, then they let me share it! The advantage of this is we get the information directly from the people in the business, the disadvantage is it takes time.that people within a business just don't have.

Pulse from Linkedin, this is a blogging platform already linked to the most powerful business social networking tool, it's SEO friendly and very easy to do.

Take a look at the screenshot below of a recent Linkedin blog post i've done and click the image to view the full text:

An example of a digital marketing strategy

24/4/2015

We get the chance to present our digital marketing ideas all the time to clients but for those clients that don't know what we do here is an example.

The Swansea Employability Academy (SEA) is a department of Swansea University that aims to help students improve their employability and provide talented students for local businesses We have written this strategy document as a general guide to what could be improved and the marketing opportunities that exist. The draft strategy covers:
  • An appraisal of the current online marketing
  • An online communications strategy
  • A social media strategy
  • An SEO strategy

Click on the slideshow below to view the draft marketing strategy:
One of the key elements of the strategy is making more use of video. This is something we are encouraging all businesses and organisations to to as it can help SEO results significantly and social media sites such as Facebook are showing signs of giving preference to displaying posts featuring video.

Using Analytics to track online marketing performance

Here you can see the Twitter analytics on a single tweet sent out relating to their TV interview on BBC news around the use of real oysters in their stout. This was fantastic PR that required us to maximise value by using social media to share the online version of the video:
